Books
As a third culture kid, it's always been hard to define where I belong. I've lived between two countries, but in books, I’ve experienced countless lives. Stories have become my companions. They offer comfort during sadness, motivation in tough times, and laughter in moments of joy. Just as I’ve been taught to dress for success, I approach book covers with the same mindset.
I believe a cover should reflect the essence of a story. It should show what the writer wants you to feel before you even turn the first page. If a picture is worth a thousand words, why shouldn’t a book cover say just as much?
I chose to focus on how different types of lighting can affect the way someone views or thinks about objects or settings in the photos I have taken. Only lights can create an experience that is visually pleasing and unsettling at the same time. Without light there would only be darkness, and nothing can be seen in the dark.
As a teenager writing fanfiction online, I found joy in knowing that my stories resonated with others. Poetry, however, began as something deeply personal—a private space where I could express raw emotions without limits or judgment. Over time, I grew more comfortable sharing this part of myself with friends, family, and anyone who needed the comfort of knowing they weren’t alone. This collection of 15 poems explores both lived experiences and the daydreams that have carried me through them. To accompany each piece, I created abstract artwork that visually reflects the emotions and themes within the poems—turning words and color into a shared emotional landscape. This collection is now available for purchase, and I hope it brings you the same sense of connection and comfort that creating it brought me.
